3D at Home

Hi everyone! Today I would like to share a thought on 3D movies and 3D Active Glasses developed by Samsung Electronic Company.

While I was reading the TIME magazine towards the end of the page in the "Arts" section, there was an article about the movie Avatar. The article talks about how there is no famous stars in the movie, and "it isn't the screen version of a best-selling novel, it's got a lot of battle scenes, so women certainly wouldn't want to go see it [and] it's also the most tree-hugging movie ever, [and] we're meant to cheer when American soldiers get killed" (Times, p. 50). But how did Avatar rise to the top? In other words, Avatar has none of the selling points, yet it has been no. 1 every week.

This weekend, I finally got to see Avatar. I heard from many, many, many people that its a must-see movie but I never got the chance to. Every time I wanted watch Avatar, the tickets were always sold out in Korea, and when I came back to Purdue, I just didn't had the chance to go to the movie theater. But yesterday, I finally watched Avatar. (I was surprised by the fact that they were still showing Avatar today because it has been quite awhile since they were out)

Lucky me, I got to watch it in 3D and it was such an experience because first of all, the movie quality was amazing. The computer graphic and all was something I never seen before. After the movie, I jokingly said, "it would be awesome if we could watch 3D movies at home!" and then one of my friend said, "you can" I was like ..... "wow"

I never knew we were able to watch 3D movies at home and I was totally excited about it because 3D movies are so fun to watch! There are so many great technologies today, making our lives more fun, simpler, and exciting!

I found out that recently (Jan. 27, 10) Samsung announced that it has become the first company to commence mass production of panels for 3D LED TVs and 3D LCD TVs. They also developed a 3D Active Glasses. You guys should click on this link and check out how 3D Active Glasses work and what they are all about!

They are pretty amazing... and looks like this:

This eye wear glass weights about 30g, and if you charge this glass for at least two hours, then you are able to use it for 30 hours, and that's a long time!

I wonder how our lives will change when we really start using 3D glasses at home.
Are we able imitate like Tom Cruise from the movie Minority Report? :p

My last thought is that nothing is impossible nowadays, seriously!!
